Removing Exhaust Manifold?? -'87 NA

I'm trying to replace the 02 Sensor on my car. So, I cannot get the stock one loose, I've tried an impact, 02 socket, just about everything at this point. Its in there so tight, that its starting to get rounded off.
So, before I completely round it over, I've stopped.
Right now I have 3 of 4 nuts off that hold the heat shield onto the Manifold, and I have the rest of the exhaust dropped out of the car.
How difficult is it to take of the actuall exhaust manifold. I can't get down there to see the bolts, etc. Can it be done while everything else is still on the car?

Thanks.

Well, in short it's a pain if youdon't want to take the LIM off... there are a few ways to do it... Take off those 2 actuators that are attached to the LIM that will allow you to get directly to the top two bolts that are holding the exhaust manifold onto the engine block. In order to get the heat sheild off... you can pop the front of it off with a flathead screw driver. and then slide the heat shield back and off the exhaust manifold by bending it a little... At this point the bolts that are there have probably comepletly rusted through the heat sheild material.

I had the same problem i had to remove my exhaust manifold to get the o2 sensor off, but i was replacing the manifold with RB headers/presilencer so I ended up just buying a new 02 sensor and not worrying about the old manifold.

You can easily get it off without taking off the LIM Ive taken them off many times without doing that. I believe you can get three of them off from under the car and the top right one off from above. At least thats how I did it. Just make sure to spray them with PB spray or something of that nature and it will make it pretty easy.

This is true, but I had problems with the 5th/6th port actuators being in the way. I didn't want to use a swivel head to try and get those bolts off in fear of stripping.
