Removing door panel on 1988 rx7 FC convertible

I needed to pull the door panel on my rx7. Didn't find any posts the covered the process in enough step by step for a novice like me. Online manual and Youtube videos only partial help. Finally puzzled everything together so figured I would write this up step by step in the hope that it will help other novices.
  • Remove the sail inner garnish - the triangular panel near the mirror. Use a trim tool
  • Remove the screw and remove the inner handle cover. May need to use a trim tool
  • Remove the gold colored screw inside the door handle cover area - its the upper support screw for the arm rest
  • Remove the interior colored screws. There are 4 of them. back, middle and front in the carpet, and one high up front,
  • Remove the 4 screws holding the arm rest on.
  • Pop the trim panel fasteners free. They are at the front middle and lower, middle, and back of door.
At this point you should be able to lift the panel up and off the door. Unplug the power window and door light connectors if you need to.

Hope this helps!
