Mine is broken so i was thinking about buying a new one. I was wondering if i had to take the whole door panel off to remove and reinstall the driver side door pocket? thanks

 

Yes cos there are screws you need to remove before the pocket will detach from the rest of the plastic moulding

There are two sheet metal screws top and bottom (door hinge side) one screw top (opposite side), and a little screw located where inside door handle is, need to first remove a small plastic cover plate.

The two window jams (triangular shape) pieces are pried off prior to removal of door panel. There are two more snap inserts on panel bottom.

When replacing, come at an angle on hinge side to line up two screws. I just took mine off yesterday.

Easy, 30 minutes tops.
