Removing ABS...help please

The car I bought is a 1990 Mazda Rx-7 Turbo. I'm gonna have it running soon. But my question is that I need to remove the ABS. I don't want it. Plus, the ABS pump aint there no more. What do I need to do to get rid of ABS.

Thats what I just did recently. I too ordered from mazdatrix, but really you could probably source the parts on your own. All that comes in the kit, is a metal T, and about 5" of brake line hose. Each sized to accept the flare nuts that normally plug into the ABS unit.

Be prepared, the lines need to be bent slightly to fit them properly into their places. Just thought I'd let you know that, I didn't really expect it, and it kinda freaked me out when I realized I'd have to bend the hard brake lines. I was just extra careful, bent them with my hands.

If your ABS is leaking anywhere as bad as mine was, you'll love this, no more gross engine bay and refilling brake fluid every trip out!

Did you leave the pump in the engine bay or take it out? Does the brake light (or ABS light)stay lit when you do this?

About to order the kit for my 89TII with a leaky ABS unit.

I removed the pump completely, along with any brackets it was attached to. That was a bit of a pain in the butt. ABS light does not come on at all, nor does the brake light. I assume because the unit is completely unplugged?

When I removed my ABS it was due to a bad speed sensor and a bad power brake booster.

I ended up putting in a reman non-ABS booster and thus a new non-ABS Master Cyl.

I bought two new front hardlines from mazda, and got the two short lines between the proportioning valve and the MC from a junk car. I cut and flaired the single line that goes from the ABS pump to the back and connected it to the proportioning valve.

All of it works good.

If you MC and booster are good though i would just get two non-ABS front harlines, and cut the rear line the way i did, then put a tee for the single ABS-MC front port (cause the non-abs one has 2 ports. Do some custom bending and flairing.

The ABS delete kit still leaves a big mess in the engine compartment.

And - disconnect/remove the ABS control box next to the ECU.

And - don't tell your insurance agent.
(many companies give a discount if they think it's still there)

How so? Other than the bent hardlines and less aesthetically pleasing brake hose where the ABS unit once was, everything is fine. It definitely does not leak anymore, just to clarify, that reply might seem to imply it does.

I suppose, but is it any worse than the stock pump being there? When I did this, the lines are not right on the turbo either, definitely in the area, but higher up.

Actually, that gives me an idea, maybe I'll try to spruce it up a bit, or fashion some sort of heat shield.
