engine is dying :(

I did a compression test a few months ago and the engine didnt show very good numbers.

Now, it is losing alot of oil and smokes a ton around 4k rpm's every time.

Today I started it up, let it warm up then revved it to 2k then 3k to see if it would smoke. It made a loud clack clack and some liquid with a blackish color shot out of the tail pipes.

A local rotorhead has a s5 engine we are going to rebuild and put in, but I do need the car for transportation untill the other engine is done.

So, is there anything else the smoke could be besides a oil seal failure?

Considering that you said you're losing a lot of oil as well as (black?) smoke, not to mention the black liquid coming out, I don't really think there's much anything else that it could be...

It's white smoke, its weird. Going to high rpm's triggers it. Also sustained rpms. What's weird is that alot happens around the 3800 rpm mark so its hard to know. I think Im going to try swapping out secondary injectors.

I thought white smoke was the car burning coolant... hmm...

I dunno... I'm basically a rotary-virgin.

Not really. It smells kind of bad lol. It has thrown a ton of smoke before, the buzzer didnt go off and it runs pretty cool so I never thought to add coolant. Guess I will put some in tommorow.

But why would it do it consistantly at the same rpm?

Burning oil is a white/blue tint smoke.

Smoke that comes on around 4k rpms and above, and loss of oil, definitely sounds like oil seal failure! Search, 4k rpm smoke symptoms are lots of the time found in oil seal failure engines.

Not much you can do, it should drive but keep it below 4k I guess to stay away from smoke and check oil frequently I guess.

Yeah its white with alittle bit of blue. Damn there goes the powerband . Guess I have to wait for the new engine to be done before I have any fun.
