relocating airconditioning controls?

Has anyone relocated their a/c controls from the stock location, and if so how hard was it? Just lengthen the wires? I am thinking of maybe putting them either in the glovebox or maybe somehow cutting the ashtray out(I don't smoke and don't want no one else smoking in my car) and seeing if they can fit down there. Thing is I want to fit the APEX'i S-AFC & the APEX'i AVC-R in the place where the radio goes and still want to have a stereo. If at all possible I want to put the APEX'i turbo timer in there too somewhere. Guess I will have to see.

Glove box would be doable, you'd just have to run the wires from the stock location to the glove box area, not too far...

Pull out the ash tray...There is no room in there for anything. I tried to wire my fuel cut switch in there, and I found it to be a dead end. Glove compartment is a reach to get to, but it is doable.

Easily done, just cut, lengthen and solder back together. I saw a pic of an FC with this done the other day (can’t remember where), they were in the lower half of the radio opening, with gauges in their place.

If you have a single-DIN stereo, there’s plenty of room underneath it for all of these.

Easily done, just cut, lengthen and solder back together. Mounting the Logicon and making it look tidy would be the only tricky bit. I saw a pic of an FC with this done the other day (can’t remember where), they were in the lower half of the radio opening, with gauges in their place.

Ya I have single DIN size stereo, but don't think the AVC-R, S-AFC, and Turbo timer will all fit under it. Even if it all did it would be nice to have more room for gauges.

I'd like to move the heater controls to the center console, but the stock console is kind of flimsy, so before then I was going to have one of my friends(stereo installer, also building my sub box) make a sturdier console out of MDF and fiberglass, and maybe add a cupholder or two.

I moved mine to the glove box to fit a TV,stereo, and SAFC. Just legthen the wires, but be carfull not to miss any cuz there are about 6 million of them and if you miss one itll take for ever to find the one youve missed. Cutting through the glove box door is a bitch, theres metal in it. Good Luck

ryde or dye I was thinking of doing the same thing so I would have a place to put more gauges. Was also thinking of putting two gauges where the center vents are. I have seen it done in all kind of mustangs.

Or how about like this?

The center console door still closes, and covers the controls perfectly.
