Relocated battery ? (searched)

Ok My battery is discharging in back. I've got 4 gauge running straight to the alternator to the battery. I still have the stock connection from the alternator going to the main fuse and such. Also its connected to the little connector below the fuse box.
Do i need to connect the original plug to something? Does that regulate the voltage by any chance?

Do Need to run a relay of some sorts inbetween the bat/alt??
Help I'm so frustrated at this point

Your problem is probaly related to the alt wiring... what did you change there, or is the alt and its plugs still stock???

I am assuming you have already done the first step and tested for a current draw on the car and that it is not in excess of 70mA.

I relocated mine and I have no problemos, I just ran the new wire to the front and coneected it to the old wire. THey have these calps for household wires for when adding a wire in the fuse box. I bought one of those and did not touch any other wire than the old battery wire, then I calmped my new wire to my old one. Then I just grounded it in the back where I put my battery.

well a stand alone would have nothing to do with the alt or battery wiring, so lets go back to basics.

How is the alt wired?

See you have two choices of a problem...

1. is that something is wired wrong and the alt is not charging correctly.

2. that something is wired wrong and there is a current draw in excess of 70mA.

So at the bare minimum you need to figure out if the alt is wired correctly, and if you have a current draw when the key is off.

BTW, How to do current draw tests have been posted 1000 time here. You may wish to search.

Ok first off WTF!?!?!?! I did the current draw test. thats where you remove the ground clamp on battery and run a multi meter in place of the 2 conections one on battery one on clamp. Correct me if i'm wrong. But i'm showing 7 volts, YES 7 Volts I had to turn it up 2 ranges to the 20V range to find that. I've got some serious issues i guess. I wonder how much it actually is, cause the battery is only reading a little over 7 volts.

I took a gander at my alternator wiring and I think i've got that straight. I crossed it with the 3rd gen wiring and it seems straight. I still have the factory wiring going into the 80A fuse and the plug below that as well. Would that be a problem???

but i've got to figure out whats pulling so much out of the battery while it should be OFF. Grr. This is going to take while.

Also think this grounding point is adequate? Its in the place where a 4 seater would secure the seat belt to.

Um, is it VOLTS or is it AMPERES?

If you're talking 7 AMPERES, that's some serious current draw!!!

not volts... amps.

There should be less than .070 amps (or 70mA) for draw.

If you are using the volt scale, you have done it wrong.
