Hey guys im lookin into a 2nd gen because I drove my friends and fellin love. But i know there are reliability problems at higher miles, about how many miles are these cars good for before i should even start to worry about them wearing out? thanks a lot.

Depends on if its turbo or not... Turbo I want to say last 80-100 k and n/a's last up to 150k.

 

And that's assuming "spirited" driving.

Yah im looking at non-turbo, and the 88-91 with 160hp if that mattes at all. I want to be able to not even have to worry about it-so u guys say under 150k miles i shouldnt need to worry at all?

 

Depends on your driving... I would say if you are willing to spend a extra couple bux... Buy one that is already rebuilt.

 

My N/A went 212,000 on the original motor... And it wasnt babied by any means.

it really depends on the level of maintenance.
Rotary engines are very sensitive to care, and if one takes care of it, it would last a LONG TIME. But, if there is any neglegence, it would chip away at a cars life.
Really, depends on the previous owner.

 

Just look it over good.
Compression test it.
Any signs of overheating (boil over stains)?
Start it, look for smoke.
Warm it up, hold it at 4K for 15 seconds, then blip the throttle & look for smoke.
