Careful with bumps, people don't really like it so much. You might find it a better bet looking in the rotary section. However just to give you some teaser answers, check with Atkins, Rotary Resurrection, Pine apple racing--and i'm sure there's others. But check around, alot of people on this forum either do rebuilds themselves or take it to some place mentioned above.

Typically JDM and Reliable don't fit into a sentance together, let alone right next to each other. But if you are looking for the MOST reliable JDM importer; I've heard a lot of good things about corksport (http://www.corksport.com). They still might get you a lemon; but they'll be honest about what they see and what they think they have... Well, honest for the most part anyways.

Don't buy from OSAKAJDM.com

I've heard Tiger or something is good.. But eitehr way it's a used engine, buy it with the expectation of having to rebuild it.

JDM engines are hit or miss. You never know for sure what you are getting. I have personally dealt with 3 of them and they all worked great. The one that I had for me personally was absolutely beautiful inside. Another one that was installed in a friend's car we never pulled apart but it ran fine. It didn't look to pretty though. Mine was just gorgeous inside and out. Anytime you are trying to take the cheaper route, you take a risk and sometimes the cheaper route turns out to be more expensive in the end. With JDM engines, you never know. You may get lucky as I did or you may get a bad engine like others have. I only paid $650 delivered for my complete S5 assembly (block, intake, turbo, injectors, intercooler, harness, etc) while my friend found his for $850. This was also about 8 years ago so I don't know where to get those again.

CNC Motors. 800-429-4210. They check compression and do a small some odd point inspection. They promise 40,000 miles or less, but you never know. (usually japan motors are low mileage because of emission reasons and taxes on high milage motors.)

Got a s5 TII motor from them with some free goodies attached at no charge. Motor was great.

But it is definitly a "hit or miss" game.
