In regards to Turbo transmissions.

Okay I have search, but flame all you'd like.

I have an 89 Turbo that grinds like every gear. I hate it. I plan on swapping in a low mileage tranny.

Is S4 TII and S5 TII the same tranny? My Haynes leads me to No.

Are Jspec trannies from any model car going to fit a USDM turbo car? Seeing as they were all turbos over there....

Only difference is 5th gear...

All FC turbo transmissions are physically the same dimensions and should all swap over, regardless if it's US or Japan spec.

Thank you for your input Ted, but I'd like to clarify.

This includes S4 and S5?

Also, what is the difference in 5th gears? Which model is better?

US-spec S4 FC turbo 5th gear = 0.762
US-spec S5 FC turbo 5th gear = 0.719

Only you can decide which ratio is better.

Got to use the correct trans crossmember. If putting a S4 into a S5, use the S4 crossmember.
