Welcome to the Ferrari F430 (http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2005-Ferrari-F430.htm) . It's top speed is around 196. Only 5 more than the N/A? Hell, if www.rx7.com says so, it much be true

You people are very confused. Let me make it very clear.
An NA is GEARED to go 180. Thats IF you had enough power to raise revs to redline in 5th gear, which in almost every case YOU DONT. Assuming that since a car is geared to go a certain speed, that it will actually reach that speed is pure ignorance. If that was true my friends h22 accord would go 210mph which it certainly doesnt.

The top speed of your general NA rx7 is about 135, which it could do in 4th gear. The difference between a t2/fd and a NA is that 5th gear is usable and the car has power to increase revs at that point. In a NA the 5th gear was designed for low rpm cruising for better gas mileage.

No one is saying that there NA is faster, everyone knows the turbo rotary will achieve a higher top speed. You can secure your massive egos now please, and stop crying. Like i said before, the only way a NA reaches top speed or redline in 5th is on a downhill runway.

And another thing i keep reading that bothers me.... Wind resistance. I hope you all understand that there is a constant correlation between revs and speed. Wind resistance doesnt make your car slower at a given rpm, it will only stop you from reaching it, or slow your progress. The engine RPM is directly tied to the speed of the wheels when in gear, fighting wind resistance makes the wheels turn slower therefore rpm will be left hanging untill the car speeds up to the numbers in that chart which are completely verifiable if you dont believe them.

The table shows values for speed potentials of certain gear ratios. If you dont understand that i'm very sorry for you... try reading comprehension at your local community college. Or maybe you just didnt take the time to read that page or most of the posts here explaining it. If your gonna try arguing about something maybe you should verify first: your facts, and second: that anyone is actually arguing with you. Thanks.

I got arrested once in my 87 for going 145 in a 45, I highly recommend not doing that. I was on a stretch of highway under construction at 2 in the morning, and all the officer said was I looked down and my needle was gone and you were leaving me. It took him 10 miles to catch me, I didn't even know he was after me. I was already off the highway on a side road and he pulled me over gun drawn, I was clueless to what I had done wrong until he read me my rights. Did you know you could be charged with attempted vehicular homiside, who new. Damn I miss that car

Or we could all just strap rockets to our back and chase down that blasted road runner.

Not sure why you're going that fast though, and if you do get caught, you probably deserved it for going that fast in a populated area, I'm all for going fast, just don't do it with other people around. And if you have enough money to mod a FC to go 200 mph, why even bother driving the fc at all then.

I got a speeding ticket in Montana in my 86 when there was no speed limit, cop pulled a u-turn to come after me. I was only doing 90 and to this day I believe if I had been a guy I wouldn't have gotten a ticket. Shortly after I got the ticket they did away with the no speed limit because it left it up to the officer's discretion and too inconsistent.

I know this doesn't address the redline topic, I was told to go through the gears about once a week by my mechanic and I have hit the freeway at 60 in second gear. I also blew out my front u-joint doing it. Now that I have replaced the driveline, struts and tires it sure corners nice!

Hahahaha, yeah.

"Yeah, I was on the interstate the other night and this '97 Martian UFO pulled up next to me, so I was like, 'You wanna go?' So I floored it, redlined 5th at 220 MPH, redlined 6th at 435 mph, then I think I redlined it in 7th, but I'm not sure because the sonic boom was too loud to hear the redline buzzer. I probably could've gotten it to the speed of light if I got it to 9th gear, but my exit was coming up and I knew my wife, Carmen Electra, had dinner on the table waiting for me."
