It can happen for various reasons... One is when the housings become excessively worn, the rotors are allowed more area to expand... I'm sure others will chime in...

Doesn't matter for me anyway, I've got an auto, so redlining it is tough.
not if you use your override button. THat thing is the only reason i havent jumped out and done a manual swap so far

Daily redline

I do a redline in first followed by a redline in 2nd nearly everyday I drive my 'Vert. I have to pull out onto a state hiway from a stop sign. There is a lot of traffic and you have to kick it to get in and not have some ******* in an SUV up your, uh, tailpipes. So I have a ready excuse/reason. 8000 in 2nd is a little over 50 mph.

7000 in 2nd at 60 mph, 86 N/A stock, thought turbo would've had a higher speed?

different tire sizing???

changing the speed at certain rpms in certain gears

i wont comment, i have an 86 N/A with the 1st gen GSL-SE tranny, so real short gearing, i think 7000rpm 2nd = ~80km/h (and i have 17's with 255/55/r17)

Check out the table on rx7.com
http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/fcdrivetrain_rearend.html

Yeah the turbos are gonna be a bit slower at the same gear/rpm
In a NA rx7, if you could ever get it to redline in 5th (not likely) you would be doing around 180. My NA is pretty shaky at 130+ which is as fast as ive ever gotten it so 180 would be crazy.

I really hate it when threads turn into "my car does 170-200mph... " You guys are rediculous. 3rd gen Rx-7's were good for 155mph in stock form, they are lighter, faster, geared better, and more powerful stock then MOST N/A 2nd gens as well as MOST of the "near" stock T2's on here.. Get a life. Plus with MOST of the people on here running 20 year old suspensions and bushings 160mph would vibrate the car to peices..

Geesh..

You have a point “170mph”…..ya right, I’d have to see that to believe it.

The turbo FC is limited by gearing to about 160 as far as I know, no matter how much power it's cranking out. Look at the chart synesthete posted. Go to a different final drive ratio, and you'll get more top end, but at the expense of acceleration. I guess 170 is possible if you don't like your motor very much, and would like to see it rev itself to pieces...

Never had mine over about 135-140 but it was still pulling quite strong at that point.

Key point, if you could ever get it to redline in 5th. The N/A just doesn't have enough horsepower to overcome wind resistance (and other limiting factors). I have issues with a table that says the N/A can reach 173-191 mph.

Welcome to the Ferrari F430 (http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2005-Ferrari-F430.htm) . It's top speed is around 196. Only 5 more than the N/A? Hell, if www.rx7.com says so, it much be true

well if people wanna say their car goes 200 mph, let them (not that anyone has, the 210 was in kmh... and that's apparently 95 mph lol) hell if they want to say their car goes mach 1 let them, not that anyone's going to believe them. As for redlining, use sparingly, it's generally not good to redline your whole trip..

And yes we know FDs are more powerful stock than most FCs, not that we really care at all, if anyone really wanted to you could just swap in a 20b and get more hp than most FDs out there.
