Redline MTL 75W-80 gets me into the 14's

I just put in some Redline synthetic trans and diff oil, and my gtech quarter mile time went from 15.0@97 to 14.9@98. The trans shifts easier (5 speed S4 NA) and seems quieter. The old oil was standard 85W-90 that was about a year old.

Cruising at 75 on the freeway, my vacuum gauge reads about .6 atu compared to around .55 before, so it's taking less power to roll the car down the road now according to the gauge.

Anyway, I think it's worth the thirty bucks to put synthetic oil in your driveline.

*edit* if anyone is wondering if the gtech is worth its numbers, I ran at a real dragstrip today and found that the gtech read .1 sec lower and a couple mph higher, so the 14.9 run was really a 15.0 on the real track. I did, however, polish my technique and bump my timing a tad to tick off a 14.9@95 on the actual dragstrip a couple of runs later.

That MPH is good for low-mid 14's with a good launch. What tires were you running and what kind of 60' did you pull?

The tires are long wear all season 205's that burnout hardcore with any kind of clutch dump over 3k rpm. Some of the mid 13 hondas were trapping 101, and a 14.0 sec. MR2 trapped about 95ish. I think I'll get some used slicks on Mustang 15" wheels. I wish I had a scanner, but here are the numbers:

R/T: .553
60': 2.382
330: 6.442
1/8: 9.743
MPH: 74.58
1000: 12.572
1/4: 14.945
MPH: 95.19

Temp was about 85 with low humidity and a barometer slightly over 30 in hg.

Congrats on breaking the barrier...I'm sure with that trap speed you could get it into the mid 14's easily. Glad to see that you're still making progress though...it seemed kinda like you were a little fed up on that 200hp thread. Do you still have the pics of your ports...I never got to save them, if so drop me a line at kix_2@hotmail.com just make sure you put something in the subject line about the ports.

The port pix are at the end of the thread "porting practice". I uploaded them to the forum.

I'm not fed up with my FC or rotaries, just the focus on hp numbers and not real world performance numbers. Too many FCs that people think are bada$$ run mid 15's or slower. My FC might put down 140 with its nasty old stock cat and cat back + the stock ECU but as of today, it runs the quarter mile within a couple tenths of pp13bnos' old S5 NA that put down 167 rwhp. People see 167 and say "wow, that's a lot of hp for an NA", and it is, but when the rubber meets the road, it's all about power to weight ratio, area under the curve, and driver skill.

But yeah, back on topic, redline MTL is a great product and I would recommend it for less driveline loss and easier shifts.
