redid oil injector lines. now what?

i redid all my oil injector lines by following the directions in the archive. i was wondering though, theres one thing that wasnt mentioned that i could see. do you need to prime them before you start the car for the first time? if so, how do you do it?

I would think not since they only inject once above 3k or 3500 or something like that.. if u are worried about it I would just put 3-4 oz of 2 cycle (TCW3 Cerified) into a half tank gas and then u will atleast have some coverage

I redid my oil injector lines and after a few hundred miles only two filled up. The Front primary and the rear secondary. Not even a drop in the other 2. If I was to go back and redo it all over again, I would fill the lines before putting everything back together.

Also, they do not just inject above 3.5k rpms. They inject when the motor runs, but it will inject more as the rpms rise.

The OMP is always injecting oil in (at least on S4). It just injects more at higher rpm's.

Simple and easy to do on a series four. Just start the engine. Now lift the linkage for the omp up, all the way you can. I used a jammed screwdriver. THEN, hold the throttle at about 2000 rpm or so.

Watch closely and you willl see the oil slooooooowly ooooooch it's way up the lines. Takes quite sometime to reach the top of the oil lines.

On other occasions I lift the linkage as described just to see the oil start to ooooch. Then I tire of it and go drive the car for about twenty miles and come back home and take a look. They are filled up by then.

Unfortunaltly I've never seen the oil make a move with the car at idle and the oil rod in the stock positon. I'm saying I lift the rod all the way up, then rev the engine to two grand, then watch the oil ooch its way up. After it gets up a foot or so I let the rpm drop to idle and let go of the rod. Then watch the oil in the line. Nope, never seen it move upwards.

That's on a omp with the lever GAP as described in the FSM.

Maybe someone else has seen it rise at idle and watched the oil ooch up the line??????? Wouldn't mind hearing from you. Then I could have fun trying to make mine move oil at idle. I could have a bad/misadjusted rig??? ON threee cars? Hmmm.

Even if you don't wanna do that, you could always pour some two stroke in the full tank. Use the one oz per gallon rule, then your protected from any demons out there until the omp starts moving the oil up the lines???? Say yes.

My cars a toy. I found another way of pre mixing that I think works easyier and cleaner than the bottle in the gas filler. Cut the vent line for the fuel filler. It's under a silver plate screwed to the floor of the car on the right hand side. Carpet has to be lifted up to see it. It's opposite the fuel pump access plate on the LEFT side of the engine.

There's a approx 5/8 inch hose there that is the vent line. Cut the hose in two. Install a copper line from the Home Depot b/t the two halves. Prior to that, drill a hole in that 5/8 inch copper and solder a 1/4 inch copper nipple in the middle for a feed line. I used a butane torch and some plumbers solder. Cheap.

Buy a gallon can of acetone at WallMart (my favorite store). Buy a windshield washer motor from Autozone. Empty the acetone can into the spare gas container out in the backyard. Fill with water and rinse out. Drill a hole in the cans side to match the washer motors feedline. Sandpaper the area around the hole. Apply epoxy to the washer motor feedline aft of the intake hole. Shove the washer motor into the hole in the can. Let it set up for ten minutes till tacky.

Apply more epoxy around the mating area to seal the area good. Let it set up. I let it set up til the next day. Lot of television to watch, no time for projects.

Set the can with motor in the spare tires middle. Set it on some foam to lessen vibration. Make sure you installed the motor on the can in such a fashion that it does not rest against any object.

Two wires on the motor. Blue/yellow goes to a gnd. Blue red goes to a switch you install all by yourself where ever you want.

Buy a length of 1/4 inch ID washer hose and attach it to the motor and the other end of the line to the nipple on your new copper pipe. The access cover for the vent line also needs an access hole cut in it to accept the washer hose.

Your kinda done. Best thing to do though, is have a 16 oz plastic bottle of pre mix handy. Have it empty. Put the end of the hose that was going to the copper nipple in the bottle. Now, with the gallon can at least halfway full or better, turn your simple switch to ON. Count in your head the time it takes for the pump to fill the 16oz bottle. I count to about thirty seconds til it's full.

Remember that time element. Each time you fill the car up with gas, then after filling, turn the new pump on for the length of time described above. Turn switch off. Done.

Advantages????????? Divide 16oz into a gallon. The result is the number of times you can go without touching a bottle of premix. Large number.
