Make sure you use mufflers designed to withstand the heat generated by a rotary engine. Mazdatrix sells em. They work fine.

I got corksport 3in downpipe into 3in borla xr-1 muffler (presilencer) into greddy power extreme catback. Looks very nice and keeps the dual exhaust system, very nice deep tone. Not metallic sounding, like other cheap exhaust systems.

I too am running a 3" borla xr-1 muffler as a presilencer. It is straight through and really quiets down the exhaust. My setup also includes a magnaflow muffler at the rear. It stands up to the heat, sounds good, and is inexpensive. I recommend it.

Turbo or non-turbo engine? (This makes a HUGE difference)
