Question 7K good price for a used 86 GXL?

So i was driving home from school today and noticed a White S4 GXL sitting on a used car lot, I pulled in to check it out and saw they want $6995 for it. 48K on the odometer, extremely clean looking. Didn't get to test drive it, but it looks spectacular. So I'm thinking to myself... should I buy it if it's running well? Does 7 grand sound like a good price for this vehicle?

The price just feels a wee bit high to me, so I ask you, the FC gods to assist me.

P.S. Sorry for only having one pic, ran outta room on the digital camera(borrowed from my mom so i couldn't delete any of her pics) )

$7k does seem high for an NA - even for one with that low miles.

u can buy a fd for 4k and rebuild the motor with whats left over. i bought a 90 gtu for 600 and rebuilt the motor and iv got like 2k in it totall admittingly that car has much nicer paint and probably interior aswell but with whats left over u could make mine better.

but about 2 or 3k is all that car is worth but seeing as its from a dealership is why it is priced so high so tell them to slit there wrists and give em 2.5k

hey bro i bought my 1986 base model with 55k for 4300 after tax and taxes. it was a one owner cream puff from georgia which was super clean. after owning a s4 gxl turbo swap which i exploded to bits (which i bought for 1500 and treated it like i did), i highly recommend spending the most money you can to get the cleanest model you can find. for 7k though i would strongly recommend you not purchase this car. thats because for 8k you could have one of the sickest cars i've ever seen on this board.. the guy is selling it in seattle, wa. here's the link:

7K is too much... offer half that & compromise in between at the most 4k. & that is a stretch. It looks great though. Too bad its not a 10th Annv. I like the 5 lug wheels & I would assume a LSD rear?

Still... 4k is probably too much. the economy sux *** right now & no one can sell anything for decent $$$$ unless its some kind of "classic" or muscle car. It probably doesn't run worth crap since there are so few miles on it. All the normal parts will still be likely to fail as time more than miles can be a cause of failure.

Yeah its a clean car but $7k is way too high for any 7 NA or T2......
$3000 is a good price for a clean car like that........makes sure everything that makes it a GXL works!
And for Gods sake dont waste $7 on an FD!!!!

Yeah the only FC that I would pay $7k or more would be that one (I think Johnny Zoom's) 10th AE with about 7000 miles on it.

Kelly blue book (kbb.com) and edmunds.com are much better places to figure out what a car is worth.
