Rebuilding a running engine.
86 - GXL 220k+
I know this question is beaten to death, so I'm not going to be asking to the painfully obvious questions, just a quick recap.. my engine has this nasty habit of mixing gas with oil, and it's been suggested taht the sideseals may be going.. i've wanted to rebuild the engine anyway, so this seemed like a good idea.. I think i have all my ducks in a row about the rebuild, i'm ordering Atkin's Vid, and have been reading everything i can on on it on the forum (Thanks guys!) now the question:
Now much should i look to be spending on my rebuild? I'm thinking about maybe a (mild?)street port, and that's about it.. The car seems to be running fine, it's just the oil that i'm worried about, and the fact that it has 220k+ miles on it. . I'm assuming all of the major parts (rotors/housings, etc) are good on it.. . how much is a kit with all the seals and stuff? and are certain kits better than others? I'll prolly go all atkins if i can afford it..
Thanks guys

Well you'll need a rotor kit and a gasket kit ($600-$800 total)and you did say you're thinking of streetporting it. Templates are around $35 each. With 220k I'd measure everything and change the bearings. You'll get a better idea of what to expect after watching the video.

Rotary aviation and Atkins video's are done by the same guy, Bruce Turrentine. I ordered my video directly from him a couple of years ago and with it he sent a parts list with part numbers of everything that you would need. I don't know if these two sources of his video supply the same information, I hope they do.
