Rebuilding 13B Engines
Rebuilding 13B Engines
Is it tough to rebuild these engines in general? I am slowly accumulating engines from 2nd gen, cars and They're just sitting around in my garage. I have never rebuilt an engine before, but I figure tearing down these motors might be kinda interesting since otherwise they'd just sit in my garage and rot until I chuck them to the scrap yard. Are there any tutorials or videos (perhaps from a school or university) that gives you some of the basics of the motors? I am trying to just take a laid back approach to learning more about these cars in general.

buy some beers and a mechanic book like Haynes. Buy also zip lock bags and identify every part. Use your metric tools and you are done. The most difficult parts to remove are the flywheel nut (300 lbs of torque) and the front pulley bolt (a lot of factory thread sealant). If you have a impact gun or knows some one with one you can loose it. Remember, the flywheel nut is a 2 1/8.
If you're mechanically inclined, it's no problem.
You just need to be meticulous (if you want the engine to last
), and cleaning everything is 75% of the labor!
Read and reread Rotary Resurrection's write-up, cause all the little tricks are listed there.
