IF someone used RA seals, they tend to warp springs. Or if someone used non-oem springs, they will warp/flatten. Or, if the engine saw very high EGT's, it can warp apex springs and flatten cornerseal springs. I just took apart a 3mm Fd engine with flattened apex springs and corner seal springs.

it has the softer atkins 3mm seal which are not supposed to cause much damage when they blow so im hoping that everything else will be ok....what do you think?

They will still cause damage if chunks break off.

if there's no pieces of seal missing then it will probably be fine. I'd say when the apex springs come out of that rear rotor they will look like "l" instead of "(".

i had a problem were the rear rotor had low comp and it had just sit for a few months, i tryed the premix atf, and penitrating oil. non of it worked so i was like **** it, started it on one rotor and reved it to 7k and then the engine changed pitch and the compertion had come back. i guess it just needed to have the seal thrown loose.

Even if the apex seal is visible through the exhaust port, it doesn't mean a chunk hasn't been broken off 1 or more of them.

I los a piece of apex seal the size of a pin head off the rear end of the seal. Also caused the smaller 2nd piece of apex seal to toss itself from the engine.

Looking through the ports the seals were fine........but tear down revealed a cooked rotor and a cooked housing.

well rotaryresurection was right....the apex seals were worn uneven but were still intact..apex seal springs came out flat as a pancake and the rotor bearings were all copperd and heat damaged but main bearings looked really good..im just gonna rerbuild the whole thing but i need to figure out what caused this damage
