I'd wrather learn and do a rebuild myself. I'm not a big fan of having others do my work for me. Also, having done something first hand when someone asks you a question you know the answer having done it first hand.
I have a engine stand, and adapter for rx7, loctite, and assy lube is cheap.
I need the 54mm socket and the flywheel brace.
I was going to have the irons and housings hot tanked. Is that ok for these motors?

Yeah, I could done it cheaper if I just sent it out to Kevin Landers but I'd rather learn by myself. Nothing like saying you've rebuilt your own engine.
I'm already close to $2000 on my rebuild (including measurement tools) and I don't even have new rotor housings.

Depending on mileage and abuse, your side housings should look pretty damn good after a good cleanup, it's the rotor housings that take the brunt of the wear. I had only .001 to .002 inch of wear at the worst spots of the side housings (the "football" ends- you'll know what I'm talking about when you get her torn down), even with 186K on her...

my just going to remove the "wings" from the exhaust port and clean up the inside of ports. No real porting persay. I'd don't have the skillz to do my own bridge port like Aaron.
Do you have to replace the washers on the tension bolts? I'm going to try and order the rest of my parts today.

That is a good thing to point out. I actually have all that stuff already. I could open a shop up in my garage. This will be about my 6th FC engine swap.... just the first rebuild.

Do it yourself. Its not that hard, you learn, and its cheaper. Then, next time, you can do an even better job. Do not buy housings to practice porting, its not that exact of a job. Do it on your own, and if you mess up, then buy housings, they arent that expensive.
Lapping= good. I always get them lapped when i buil an engine, and i havent had any problems.
Plug for Rotary Aviation apexes; I stepped on one when i was building my engine, would have broken a stock seal, didnt hurt the RA. Also ive put some miles on them in a 9.4:1 street ported 13B at 10PSi max boost with stock IC and ECU with 0 problems.
I would like more information from the guy that said nitriding could be done easily, as i was not aware of this. Nitriding by the way, is a thin .002-.005 layer of chemically hardened surface that mazda did to the side irons. Rotor housings used a chrome insert instead because they are aluminum. There is currently no way to resurface bad rotor housings, although there was a guy working on it...
My 3 cents. (3, I figure more than a paragraph is worth extra)
