rebuild questions....

you can reuse the seals but i highly recommend not cheaping out on a rebuild or you may wind up spending more the next time you rebuild it which may be VERY soon.

yes if you reuse seals you would want to install everything EXACTLY the same as it came out of the engine.

if you use used seals in different housings then you will have low compression until those seals seat in fully, if they ever do...

i am a rebuilder, i always replace the seals since a seal is cheaper to replace than finding a replacement rotor housing if you catch what i am saying. apex seals do not last forever and they are worn to the rotor housing they lived in.

if you install the seal in a housing with different wear patterns then you will lose compression until the seal seats in or gouges the hell out of the housing making its own seat which is why i strongly recommend not resuing seals.

like i said though it's your choice but the results will not be optimal.

what if the seals r not worn, could have been replaced by previous owner.
what if u have to change rotor housing due to not being within spec(worn out) or damged?

like i said(a few times..): yes you can reuse the seals if you want, the result will be low compression until the seals break in then you will likely have mediocre compression. spec doesn't exactly mean a whole lot on an apex seal since many measuring tools cannot accurately gauge the wear on the seal, i use my eyes since it is a much more accurate tool than anything that comes out of my toolbox.

if i do install new apex seals, it wont have good compression right away, until they sit well in housing? how many miles does that take?

replace all the seals with NEW ones. otherwise what's the point in rebuilding the engine if you're just going to the old worn seals?
