rebuild prices ?

what is a reasonable price for a rebuild on my 13b? after my recent compression test with the front rotor at 85-85-65 it looks like i'm gonna have to do one. (rear was 90-90-90)
this ******* sucks.
the down time is gonna kill me.

anyways, what's is the price range i am gonna be looking at?

and if anyone know of anything that might help fix this problem please let me know. all i have done so far is add MMO to the oil, thought it couldn't hurt.

thanks,

ryan

try the ATF trick before you decide to rebuild. I've heard it can bring compression ratios back up! anyone else???

my guess is that carbon buildup in the engine is probably the reason its still driving. remember carbon can also fill in gaps and grooves inside the engine.

Most places youll find will be in the $1800-2200 range for an NA engine.

I can build one for you for $1000 plus core, and streetporting is an extra $200. I have built several engines for guys on the forum and several more for guys not on here. IF youre interested check out http://hypntyz.rx7life.com/rebuildpage.htm or just email me at hypntyz@charter.net

that's a very inticing deal.

one more thing though, the engine only has 60,000 miles on it. i got the car in '99 and was told it had sat on a lot in san diego for about 3-5 years, can't remember how long, and was then shipped up to venture where i purchased it.

with the low miles on the engine does anyone think that maybe the problem can be solved without a rebuild? i hope i hope i hope.

thanks,

ryan

Theres alot of crap that you "might as well replace since it's all apart"

Just remember: A budget rebuild is just that: A BUDGET REBUILD. It will never have the compression numbers of a total rebuild with all seals replaced and new housings.
A high quality rebuild include new housings and ALL new seals. Only you can make the decision whether you want to shell out the bucks now or later. But you do get what you pay for.

Couldn't state it any better than previous post.
Sounds like a Fram filter ad-Pay now or pay later!

i totally agree with 88 se, if you're yanking the engine, you might as well replace a bunch of other parts that will be hard to replace when they go bad - vaccuum lines, motor mounts, hoses...that stuff adds up real quick!

don't forget to have your injectors cleaned while you have them out too!
