to rebuild or not?

Hey guys my tranny wines like hell....its sounds so nasty..i was wondering if i could just buy a rebuild kit for it and do it myself or should i buy a used tranny thats in good condition???

never seen a rebuild kit for our trannies- do they make one? I know a bunch of us need 'em!!!

no, we depend on guys like you that stockpile all this info to do our dirty work for us, LOL...Thx, Scathcart...

Rebuilding a transmission is no so much a task of difficulty, but one of extreme organization, paying close attention to tolerances and part inspection, and of having the tools. The procedure for this is all in the FSM.

Mind you, I find these cars easy to work on... even the dreaded "rear diff drop" seems easy. I think FC owners are spoiled and need to work on some FD's, as a minor example.

Anyone know if the main case bearings have to be pressed out, or do they just pop out? is this something i can do at home...or bring to a transmission shop?

Drivetrain Specialists of Las Vegas suck! I had them send me all sorts of wrong stuff, then they sent me more of the same wrong stuff when I bitched. Find somewhere else to get your parts. I would bring your tranny to a transmission shop that have worked on RX trans before.
