Apexi intake

Hey I am buying an Apexi intake. I see they have the kits for around $100, but I have heard that I don't need the adaptor and stuff for my S5. Can I just buy the Apexi replacement cone filter alone, or do I need the whole kit for the 89-91 RX7's?

if you still have your air pump i suggest you get the kit. if not, just get the one with the 70mm or 80mm opening. you'll still need an adapter if you're using an afm.

you need the kit for your car. you can't just clamp the filter over the afm like with a K&N or generic filter, the filter is build differently. you'll understand when you see it.

the adapter you don't need is a completely different piece. it turns a square hole into a round hole so that you can put an aftermarket universal filter on an S4 afm.

Thanks guys. That's what I thought. I saw that there is no flange or anything to clamp onto the back of the filter. Thanks, this helps.
