rear side fender lights

hey all,

i'm getting my car redone and i noticed... why is the passenger side molding that surrounds the rear right side light have a little lip/awning thing while the driver side molding that surrounds the rear left side light have none?

why not make them both have the little lip/awning thing .. why not just not have it at all like the front side turn signal markers.

just wondering. the guy that's painting my car thought that my car was in a previous accident and whoever put it on there put the wrong one or something.

why is that?

thanks.

yes, that is the reason... why??? Don't you think that Mazda enginners were thinking that far ahead??? Its not like a RX-7 is some silly american pony car.

hmm isn't that a subtle hint that american drivers can't drive let alone fill their car up properly? so it's like "it's statistically found that 90% of you drivers will most likely overfill our car and possibly kill yourself in the process, so we made it safer"

definitely thinking way ahead.

Perhaps it's there on japanese cars too? You guys are assuming they only put it on USDM models...

It probably is on both cars, neither said it wasn't. Icemark commented that american cars do not have this, but japanese cars do. How does this infer that the japanese do not need it?

Who said you're going to blow up?
Most, if not all, of the lenses have rubber seals on them.
I doubt it's going to leak inside.

It's more likely gasoline + plastic lenses don't like to tango.
Even though the lens is most likely polycarbonate, most plastics get blurry and haze in contact with gasoline.

Hey, if you're into buying new lenses everytime you drip gasoline on your lenses, I believe you have a strong argument, but I think the rest of us would rather not...
