ah rear mounted turbochargers everywhere!!!!!

sorry. but its seems that posts on that crap is following me everywhere i go.

honesly, just dont do it. your going to find yourself in a slew of problems caused by that thing. one of which is the need for an extra inline oil pump so that the oil reaches the turbo at the proper proessure. then having a custom setup for the oil return with a sump. better still, the weather is a consideration. does it snow where you live? becuase the salt they lay down will linger on the gorund for months after the snow if gone. (your turob wont like that) plus it can be damaged by things like rocks, pot holes, roadkill and speedbumps. Other than that, i bet the first time your in the bad part of town, so thug *** **** is going to see the turbo, grab and proceed to run off with it. nad there is always the less than impressive preformance side of this story.

how much does an NA turbo conversion using stock TII parts ussually go for? Because they sell this kit for $2800 and they use a stock TII turbo.

i got a s4 turbo for 150 bucks!!!!!! bearing is wonderful. one small crack in the manifold. honestly you can do it for a low price. search the archives. there is a good thread listing in the FAQ about the N/A turbo which can bring you up to date on it.

get a 5-7 pounds of boost without moding engine or adding intercooler. <----something just dosn't click with me on that one. I drive an N/A and even i know that with the higher compression rotars it ins't easy to turbo the car, but without an Intercooler......this sounds bad..

Here's a comment about this kit that the seller made that is hilarious.

"Produce 5psi If you up the boost without proper tuning you may blow The rear seal in the engine."

I have never seen anyone blow the rear seal from boost. I assume he is talking about the rear main seal.

FWIW A rear turbo can work just fine. Just not this one. STS makes a nice kit that works very well on other cars. You don't need an inline oil pump to get the oil to the turbo. Oil gets there just fine. You need a pump to get the oil back to the engine. You don't have to drill holes in the oil pan or anywhere else for a return line. You send the return line to the oil filler neck. The pump does the rest. Pumps aren't necessarily a bad thing. Many cars have had them. The Lingenfelter twin turbo Vette is a good example of one that uses return pumps. On the STS kit, there's a sensor with a warning light that tells you if the pumps starts failing. There is also no problem with the turbo being this low. It's fine down there. Ever seen a Porsche 911 turbo? Go look at how low their turbos are. People need to learn how things work before they necessarily insult a different product. These can work just fine when done properly. The system in the eBay auction is crap though.

We just covered this in detail, only a day ago. The thread even had the exact same title as this one.

I'm closing this thread.
