Rear end strength - N/A vs. Miata

Just curious if anyone has thought about this. The gear sets are the same except for the pinion shaft length. I would think they would be about the same. The Miata has more gear sets available than we do.

And while I'm on the subject why do the 2nd Gen cars have that long pinion shaft to start with? Is it just to clear the rear subframe?

The Miata torsen diff can easily support 300hp.

Same thing as Miata/1st-gen/RX-2/RX-3 just the pinion length is different.

www.solomiata.com has lots of diff info.

Did you keep putting the early type diffs back in the '91? That's why...

Hey twister, WTF? Do you work for Guru Motorsports or something? Just perusing the forum as I usually do, I've come across no fewer than THREE posts, all of which say the same thing "I use a diff from Guru motorsports, it's not built with crap materials like everywhere else"

Uh, if that were true, then how come we're NEVER HEARD OF THEM? And in any case, we KNOW you use and like their diffs, we GET it. THANK you.

There is a write up of a guy with a 2nd gen running 10's in the quarter with the STOCK diff from an NA. BUT he is running an automatic which is easier on the driveline than standards.

Sorry, since I run there stuff in my circuit car here in OZ I love the products, but may be I have gone overboard trying to say that :-( I will shut up re the stuff!

I run a Gen 1 in the 'Improved Production' class, have a look at the club site if you are interested.

Cheers
