ready to remove acv... i think

well, i think i've read just about every thread on here about acv removal...

a couple of questions:

1. after you pull the acv... do you pull the sleeves too? leave them in there?

2. where can i get the sheet metal for the plate? home depot?

Sleeves?

Describe what you are removing. TII or NA?

yes on the sheet metal. i actually used the metal from industrial electrical outlet boxes. worked perfect.
as for the sleeves , i think your thinking of the 5th and 6th ports on a na . if thats the case and you are talking about the sleeves then you have 2 different mods mixed up. but if you pull your acv and you have a s5 then you might have to either wire them open or remove them .

im going out on a limb and say its n/a since there is no sleeves in a T2. it will be kinda tough to find a sheet the right size for the ACV block off unless you find a local sheet metal shop. you can simply wire open the port actuator arms rather than taking the intake off and removing the sleeves.

they make block off plates, i thought mazdatrix has them. its been a while since i got mine. If you have an s4 and stock exhaust then you don't need to wire them open. If they do not open then you to fix the actuator or wire them open.

well upon ripping apart my old motor... what im refering to as the sleeves are the metal tubes that you would insert the pineapple racing bits into... i was wondering if i pull THOSE out, or leave them in. If i leave them in, what position is open? Do I need to jb weld them to keep them from moving or something?

actually there is a place called metal depot right down the street... maybe i can start supplying these plates too for CHEAP... apparently 1/8" will work? i suppose it is not under enough vacuum to flex that...

You will lose a lot of your bottom end if you take the sleeves out. Remember, they stay closed until about 3800 rpm to keep enough pressure in the housings to make power down low, and then open when extra air is needed to lean out the fuel mixture some. You can take them out, and clean them up, but I'd recommend you put them back in. Remember though, the entire intake manifold assembly has to come off to get to the sleeves.

believe me, im NOT trying to start another fight about drivability... the actuators are frozen, and i have absolutely no interest in fixing them. i was just wondering if there were any problems with taking the sleeves (?) completely out. the only reason i can think to keep them in is to ONE DAY... if ever, fix it, or rig it with an alternative pump/motor/whatever is around at the time. thanks though!

My acv is removed and blocked off. I kept my 5 and 6 port in and use my header to open and close them when needed. That is an option if you want the best of low and high.

As for making block off plates, I would say no and buy these. I just ordered a set and man are they sweet and thick! Also a very good price. Check it out
