I like the mazdaspeed shifter. It raises the ball and the bushings enough so it is not sitting in the oil

I've been looking for a short shifter as well, and I can wait a couple of months if it's good.

j/k but i wish they had noticed the writeup first.

there is just an issue about the rattle that i need to work out and add to the thread though from what i see even the most expensive FC short shifters have this issue.

take a look at the first then the second link, uncanny resemblence huh?!

and i sure as hell hope that seller didn't get the idea to rape customers because they fit both applications from me, yet it seems FC owners are more gullible to paying high prices for average components. then again it was an auction so they bid freely i suppose..

Will a GB maybe knock the price down lower than $100? Could the best(I hope) and least expensive short shifter get any cheaper?

I think I'll be able to use the stock ones or go to ACE hardware to find replacements and then we'll see if it really does fit nicely.

What is this rattle you speak of? I did not know about this before I bought mine!!

Is there any way to stop it?

We've found that replacing ALL the bushings and also the tranny mounts helps solve it. Also make sure and coat the bottom of the shifter where it goes into the tranny with lithium grease.

All this seems to help.
