I think it'd be quite cool, but it'll be a lot of work and quite expensive to buy and fit. Based on the prices in Aussie, I'd guess it'd cost you US$3-4000 to get the motor, plus you'd need a gearbox from a RWD Skyline and a custom sump (the GT-R's FWD system passes through the it's sump). Plus a 6-cyl motor is a lot longer than a 13B, so expect to move stuff to fit it in and restore the weight balance. I think this would be at least as costly and involved as a 20B swap (similar specs), so research that to get an idea of what's involved.

He's talking about a Nissan RB26DETT 2.6L twin-turbo. In Australia these cost ~A$7000, which is why I guesstimate US$3-4000 to pick one up in the US. That's just to buy the motor (no g/box or ECU).

That's the same price that good used 20B-REW engines are selling for in the US. Most everything from Japan costs more in the US than it does in AUS, so that Nissan engine may cost more than the $4,000 USD indicated by a simple currency conversion, but I don't know for sure. I think you are correct in thinking that the 20B conversion would be cheaper, especially considering that the 20B will bolt right up to an RX-7 transmission. I guess it would also depend on how much fabrication was required to get the Nissan engine to work in the RX-7 chassis.

You can get a RB26DETT front clip for $3000-$4500 USD. That's commonly too, not hard to find. You would need the RB25DET gearbox and sump like NZConvertable said.
If you aren't shooting for crazy hp (like over 800-1000 rwhp) then why not just get the RB25DET engine? Bascially just as strong, but 0.1 litre less displacement and already comes with the rigth transmission and such.

if he wasn't shooting for CRAZY hpr then the 20b would be the best idea, and hell if he was theres always a 26b, the 20 b would be alot easer too considering theres the prefabed motor mounts, TII trannys are pretty easy to get and theres just alot less work to be done... and anyways, piston in a rex? but that goes back to the 10 page agrument in the lounge a while ago...
