RB N/A downpipe?

Does anyone know if the Racing Beat N/A downpipe will bolt up to the stock main cat? I already have a pipe there but it was poorly made and leaks at the exhaust manifold so I am looking to replace it. Either that or two gaskets I guess.

No, I mean down pipe I know not the usual sense as in for the turbo, but that is what they have it listed on there page as. RB part#S16206. Their site says it bolts on the stock manifold but you have to use there presilencer. I still want to pass smog though, so that's not an option.

To reinforce, the RB downpipe is essentially designed to replace the stock pre-cats, the RB presilencer is designed to replace the main cat.

So, yes the RB downpipe will directly bolt up to the stock exhaust manifold and the stock cat.

All this being ok assumes you HAVE a stock cat or stock like cat replacement. So many muffler shops do hack jobs that results in different main cat flange to flange length.

if it leaks you need a stainless gasket or the like. rotaries burn super hot. like 2000 F under full throttle runs at the manifold.

in the distant future a 5000B will replace the sun and mankind will be saved once more.

I only use OEM gaskets. I had the pipe made for me by some guy at borla from stainless steel the job just wasn't done well so I think the angle is off. I just have kinda put up with it for three or four years.

Actually, the RB NA downpipe DOES NOT bolt directly up to the main cat. The flanges are fine, but the downpipe needs to be extended ~3" to mate up. Racingbeat made the downpipe to be used with their presilencers, which are actually longer than the stock main cat. They mention it in some of the descriptions. You can still use it if you get an exhaust shop (or someone w/ a welder) to add in a section of 2.5" pipe.

And yes, I'm sure of this. I had the stock precats and main cat in my car before modifying the DP length.

This is correct. The RB system is designed to replace the cats and downpipe. If you only use part of it, you need a small extension to be made by your local exhaust shop.

You can hollow out the precats to give you basically the same effect, or go with a full on precat/cat replacement pipe that you swap out for emissions testing.

Unfortunatley I no longer have the precats otherwise that would be an option.

Does anyone know if RB will custom make anything for an additional fee?

There is a company (guy?) on eBay that sells N/A downpipes that bolt to the stock cat. I bought one because it was the only option between going with the RB monopoly system and a header from Pacesetter or Corksport. It is ok. The constructions is kind of "meh," but so is the price/ease-of-use ratio.
