rats nest is on the drivers side of the engine, it deals with emmisions. its a bunch of vaccum lines and valves to regulate rignals to the sensors that corntrol the emissions system.. it will look like a mess of.. junk

so yea i forgot to mention, i live in fl so here we dont have emmision regulations, so if i pull the air pump and acv with everything including the cats ill need block off plates, now if i get rid on everything else emmisions ("the rats nest") will it affect the car in any way?

I used the following search query: rats nest removal . That yielded the previous results and much more. From now on, it would be good if you tried varying your search parameters to find more stuff. Yes, that requires more work, but it's worth it in the long run.

I've done it, and so have plenty of other members. Speaking for myself, I haven't noticed any problems at all. Here's the minimum vacuum routing how-to to help you out. That's actually part of an S5 UIM on S4 swap project, but whether you have an S4 or S5, things will be very similar.

If you are asking what it is, where it is, and what it does...you need to do a lot more research before you even THINK about removing it. It takes some mechanical know how, and knowledge of how to take off the UIM/TB...where to re-route vac lines to...what injectors go where, knowledge of the wiring harness, and then HOW TO PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER.

Just do some searching, and READ READ READ...eventually you will get it...and plan a full weekend if its your first time and you dont know what your doing...maybe more...who knows... GOOD LUCK!
