Ran a new ground, now I keep blowing the EGI fuse?

Ran a new ground, now I keep blowing the EGI fuse?

So over the weekend I reground, or thought I regrounded my EFI harness. Here is what I did:

Took off the UIM and the bracked that bolts to the block that holds the intercooler. Took of the bolt holding the harness down, ran a 4awg from that location to the firewall. I also in the process broke the bolt that holds the ground from the bell housing to the firewall. SO for that I ran a 4awg wire from one of the four UIM bolts to the same firewall location as the EFI ground.

I started the car the first time after getting everything back together and the fuse had blown, thought it was because I accidently sparked when I was taking off the Alternator wire. But I got a new fuse today and threw that in and it blew again. Im guessing I did something wrong with my wiring, what could it be?

To start with, next time take the (-) clamp off the battery before working on any (+) wires, especially the primay to the alternator.

Your new grounds are not likely the problem.

For troubleshooting, temporarily rig a circuit breaker in the EGI fuse position.
Start by unplugging the ECU, and see if it still trips the breaker, when you turn the key.

I did that, but it shifted at some point and was slightly touching. I keep going over in my head what I did but I cant remember anything else that could have caused a problem.

You know what's comming..

If the temporary breaker trips only when the ECU is plugged in, the pull the cover off the ECU & inspect/smell for burned out components.

Eww, well I better give it a shot. Would this also occur if I accidently left something else ungrounded?

Did you pinch the BACV wire between the UIM and LIM? Or the ASV?

It sounds like you forgot to hook back up the emission harness ground? You were kind of confusing. Just run a wire from the rear iron to the firewall. I dont understand what your doing with 2 in same place.

I put the EFI harness ground back with an additional wire from that point to the firewall. Then since I broke the bolt on the bellhousing ground, I ran a new one from the UIM to the same firewall spot. Is the ASV the little cylinder thats bolted to the top of the UIM?

Finally had the time to take apart the car and see whats up and you were right. I pinched some wire between the UIM and LIM. I repaired and it and hopefully will get the car back together tomorrow and hopefully she will fire up.
