'86 RX-7 Needs Rebuilt Engine. Any Idea where to find one?
Hi guys,
I recently got this RX-7 '86 from a relative of mine. The car is still running, however the millage is so high, its about 196K. When i drove it in the freeway the temperature gauge starts to go up. My cousin told me that when the rpm goes or stays beyond 4000rpm it overheats. So, ive decided that Ive rather have the engine rebuilt so it can perform and be more reliable. Im looking for a shop around San Bernardino, CA who specialize or more so knows how to rebuild rotary engines. Ive been calling Japenese engines stores but they seem dont carry rotary engines anymore. So, im asking for someone who lives around San Bernardino, California who can help me out locate a shop/rebuilders in the area. Your Help is greatly appreciated.

know what? I'll be a nice guy since this is your first post. But the search function is there for you and us to save time.

First of all, people don't "carry" rotary engines, they rebuild them. You can check out the guy that posted above, or www.rotaryresurrection.com. As for the Overheating, is that the only problem? If so that doesn't mean you need to rebuild the engine. More likely its a clogged rad or something. Check out the troubleshooting thing here and see if you can fix it. http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/cooling.htm

I have enough parts @ the shop to make
4/5 FC T2 engines
2 FD engines
1 S5 n/a engine
I would do a coolant pressure check to confirm the condition of the coolant seals.

thanks for your replies guys. I'll try to check with regards to the cooling problems. But i really wanted to have my engine rebuilt... thats my plan, i want it to be more reliable. Arizona is too far for me though. And Monkeymagic, thanks for the thread it'll help me find rebuilders around my area. Spending money for shipping cost is a lot yah know. So, its much better if the shop is around San Bernardino, CA. I appreciate for your time guys!

NorCal 7's Co-founder
You can always PM Guitarjunkie on this forum as well. He builds motors and is in SoCal. Or you can ship your motor to NorCal and have Rotary Evolution build it. PM Karack if you are interested in the NorCal option. His prices are great and he has a very good warranty as well.
