Radio and Clock Failure

Was driving home today, and hit a bump (I have coilovers so the ride is quite stiff) and my clock on the dash and aftermarket radio just cut out. But, the Air Conditioning and the lights that go with it still work. The idiot lights on the dash work too. All the gauges, shift light, turn signals and high beam lights work too. As well as all of the lights outside of the car. What could have caused this? Just a loose wire? Blown fuse?

I've no idea where to start looking for problems. So suggestions are apperciated.

Which ones? And how do I know if they're blown? Sorry I'm an electrical noob.

not sure on which fuse but to tell if its blown just look at it. if the metal part on the inside of the fuse is broken then its blown.

All the fuses look to be good. I'm thinking it's a ground wire...

Yeah, the clock thing is one of the famous FC problems right up there with the wiper switch and the sunroof... You have some bad or "cold" solder joints in the warning cluster. If you're lucky, you can literally see the issue when you remove the cluster and inspect the solder points. You can remove and resolder then it will be as good as new. If you do a search on cold solder joints and clock or idiot light cluster, I'm sure you'll find some good instructions on how to diagnose this.

Since you have an aftermarket radio, I'd check the wiring and/or harness being fully engaged.

Always check fuses with an ohmmeter.

Well I figured it was a wire, and I didn't want to mess with there wiring.

Plus it was free and only took an hour.

Stylemon, I looked at your thread and great job but it doesn't look like it sits flush. Is that still the case?
