Radiator Flush

Tried flushing coolant on 87 rx7 using Haynes manual. I could not find the drain on the side of the engine. So instead I left the plug off on the bottom of the radiator and put in compressed air from the coolant cap. After blowing out, i think I only got a gallon of coolant in back in. 90% coolant, 5% water. Anyhow I guess I need to find that plug to really drain it. Anyone have any pictures of what I am looking for and can I get at it without pulling other stuff off the car besides the plastic undercover? Do I need a special tool? Thanks
Good news is the horn is suddenly working so all I have left to pass inspection is new pads and rotors. I flushed the brakes last week.

The engine coolant drain plug is in the driver's side center iron. There's an access hole, for the plug, in the driver's side motor mount. The optimum mix ratio for coolant/water is 50/50.

No special tool required. Just a metric socket. I think it's a 14 mm.

Here's a photo: https://www.mazdatrix.com/product/pl...ng-long-86-92/

Be aware that the plug has a washer/gasket.

Do I get from above or under car? Besides panel, nothing else needs to be removed? Thanks for the picture. That helps a lot.

I've always removed my coolant drain plug from the bottom of car. I don't know if it's accessible from the top. Yeah, you'll need to drop the plastic belly pan.
