Which Radiator???
Which Radiator???
I've got a fairly stock 87 NA, & the radiator on it has started to develop a slow trickle. Soooo, It's going to need replaced in the near future.
Thing is, I see an quite a few aftermarket radiators... & claims that the stock radiators should be upgraded, etc... How much is hype, & how much is just the tuner mentality of "upgrade EVERYTHING". If the stock units are horrible, & I should go w/ a Koyo... thats fine. I just want to an appropriate decision.

If you had no cooling issues before then there is no compelling "performance" reason to upgrade if you don't want to.
I'd go by price, fitment and looks.

Like I pm'ed u abotu the stock radiator is not a horrible radiator u have to take all cooling items into effect..
good fan, good stat, good radiator, good coolant if all checks out u will be fine ESPECIALLY for what u have going on..
if u want to upgrade a KOYO is a GREAT radiator however is overkill for the pocket book on the setup u are running.. as I offered the csf radiator is almost half the price at 250.00 and comes with a brand new japan made radiator cap. it will flow and cool better then stock (assuming everything else is in working order) but wont look as preaty (csf is black koyo is brushed alum) as a koyo

actually u should replace yoru cap when u put in a new radiator...
and the last time I checked the koyo radiators were almost 400.00
and the csf is not aluminum but then again with his setup it dont HAVE to be aluminum because he has no real need for that quality of a radiator... koyo is a high quality unit and not everyone can or wants to drop that kind of cash on one.
btw if u can find a BRAND NEW koyo radiator for under 300.00 shoot me the link cause I have yet to see one for under 300.00

You get what you pay for so don't be cheap. Spend the money, get quality parts, spare others the bitching from cheap parts failing.

hey that radiator does not look to fit an fc. the radiator hose ends are on the wrong side
I know I dont want to have to run some custom hoses and custom bracketing.. I personally would be looking for a direct drop in

Everyone, thx for the feedback...
I'm not much of DIY person, I live in an apartment complete that prohibits lessees from working on thier cars, fabricating is not something I'm capable of. So, I'll end up having someone do the R&R for me, regardless of which unit I decide upon.
So, what I'm hearing is.... Koyo's are available at CLOSE to the price of a stock replacement... And, they're a MUCH better unit. After doing a bit of researching, I found the RX7 store carries the Koyo unit for $330. And, its local to me.

Radiator Barn-In business 47 years.
Great radiator, 160Bux shipped.
I have ordered 3 radiators from them. Great quality and excellent service. They ship from warehouses all over the US. Mine come from Autin, TX and if I order, they arrive the nexd day via UPS.
How can you go wrong with this????
They do aluminum racing radiators as well

"Price" does not imply "cheap".
SUR's rads are less expensive than Koyos but that does not automatically make them "cheap" now, does it?
