quiet please!!!!

i need some suggestions and possible links to help quiet my exhaust down.
i have a 1988 non turbo vert, it has a racing beat header, uncollected and is straight piped duel all the way to a set of monza mufflers. its get a little old now and was wondering what the best thing i could do to quiet it down. try and keep it on the cheaper side, im an rx-7 owner. also i think my mufflers are burnt out, they were cheap and i guess thats why no one uses monza mufflers on their 7.
thanks

Personally, I'm a big fan of magnaflow. Prior to installing my RB header and free flow cat the exhaust tone was nice and deep.
The exhaust note has changed considerable with the addition of these new componants though. I'm going to try running a 3" Borla XR-1 sportsman muffler after the cat to try and absorb some of the noise and hopefully decrease that raspy tone. RB also carries a few universal stainless steel mufflers but I havent heard anything about them.

Buy used good condition stock exhaust system components for dirt cheap.

Do you really need those extra 5 ponies to merge onto the highway at the expense of a pleasant driving experience?

i think that the set up im running gave me more than 5 ponies, and i dont see the point in having a cat, because i would need 2. im just looking for a good straight through muffler, like a 2 in pipe 2 out.

buy a baffle to put in the muffler. im not sure if that company makes them, but you can buy universal ones for like 30 bucks. apex'i has one that quiets exhaust by 7db. thats 1/2 as loud as your exhaust is now.
