Quick Validation - S5 Injector Resistors

Before I go hacking at the harness, I wanted to verify my plans.

This is an S5 vert with a Tii on the appropriately modified NA harness. I have 720 GReddys on the primaries and 1000 RCs on the secondaries. I've swapped the clips.

I have the big, white, square ugly 10ohm resistors from RadioShack. If i understand the wiring diagram on page 9, I am going to put the resistors on the wires connected to pins 3W, 3X, 3Y and 3Z.

If i'm interpreting the wiring diagram correctly, these will be the four pins on the far left side of the ECU (when installed). This is the biggest of the 3 plugs that go into the ECU (from left to right is big, little, medium)

Do yall wrap those big fat resistors in the HomeDepot harness tape or do they need to remain exposed so they can cool?

Thanks,

Jim

I used some large shrink wrap to hold the 4 resistors together, then soldered/shrink wrapped the connections. It's inside the car, so no need to wrap the whole thing in tape.

I also used 6 ohm, 10 watt resistors from mouser electronics. The overall resistance for the circuit is 8-9 ohms instead of 12-13 ohms, which allows for slightly better injector response. The S4 resistor pack uses 6 ohm resistors anyway, so it's tried and true.

Thanks.

Are those the right pins?

Yeah, they're the right pins. 3W, 3X, 3Y, 3Z.

Thanks, RR88. The repercussions for being wrong (as I read it the ECU goes up in smoke) mean this validation is invaluable.

are you going to run 720/1000 on a stock ECU?

Nope. RTek 1.8 with SAFC and Zeitronix w/b.

720 and 1000 with stock ECU would get mileage like an Expedition!
