I just bought a 13B TII JDM engine swap. I live in Sioux Falls SD and the weather during the summer is undoubtedly hot and the winters are damn cold. I was wondering if I should get rid of the heater core, the a/c compressor and power steering assembly. Give me your opinions on this matter, please. Quick question: What are all the belts that are needed for my engine (if I do plan on keeping everything)?

would this be too much of a hassle to mess with? I'm not that big on the whole electrical wiring aspect of the engine so I don't want to ruin anything. Would this ruin any feedback to the ecu? I really do want to get rid of the power steering, but I don't know how to go about doing so. Any input on my problem would be very helpful. thanks

the car is going to be a track and drift car, but not just that, it will also be a daily driver. I do have a primary car that I drive during the winter time when it snows. I can live without the A/C, but I have to have the heater. Has anyone drifted and raced without power steering? Is this a good idea?

I think you've answered your own questions in regard to A/c & heat. I drive without PS and I'm ok but I'm a pretty strong guy. It gives pretty good feel but then again I've never driven it with Ps so I dont have much to compare it to. You increase the power to the wheels and lower the weight... cant argue against that. but are you up to muscleing it around?

Sounds good...Power steering is a Good thing though with the car being a Daily driver.Try Turning while parking, or Turning from a Stop with a Cup of Coffee in your hands.
the Heater Core?NO..Bad Idea,as you are gonna Need that to Defrost your Windshield on Cool nights...also the Car won't pass Safety if the car has no way of Clearing the windshield(it is mandatory under the Safety Guidelines).
Just Like a Horn.(don't need it on the track, but need it on the road!).

Keep the heater core. Powersteering and AC are optional IMO. If you decide to run without P.S. you can either buy a manual rack or de-power the one you have. There is a nice writeup here: http://forum.teamfc3s.org/showthread...ght=depowering

I got my engine from: http://www.diamondjapanese.ca/index.php
a Canadian company that imports their engines from Japan. They do have a warranty valid only if you have the engine inspected and dropped in by a professional.
Engine cost 850-899$
flat rate shipping to Sioux Falls SD was 200$ without lift-gate (hydrolic device used for non-commercial residents without forklift accessibility-you have to ask for it upon purchasing the engine)
Lift-gate approx. cost 60-90$
I was fortunate enough to have it shipped to a friends work place where they do have a loading dock. Had three friends come by and we lifted the pallet off my truck and into my garage.
Overall cost for me was 1,100$ including shipping but without lift-gate
*when buying engines overseas, don't expect a grandeur looking engine, expect the unexpected and be sure to inspect every external and internal parts of the engine*

i run without ps and it doesn't bother me most the time.
but when drifting after a few hours my arms start to get tired.
but the more i do it the less they get tired.
i personally take ps off all my cars so now it doesn't really affect me much.
also provides a more direct "feel" for the road.
makes me feel more stabil at higher speeds.
as for a/c it depends.
i don't have it and just roll down my window but my back still sweats.
heater is a must have though, nice to be able to see as said before.
and you can't just roll down you're window to warm up in the winter.

i don't have power steering and its never really been a problem.
unless you're at a dead stop then its a little hard but most of the time i can turn the wheel with one hand if i'm moving even a little bit.
i like it too, as other have said it gives u a better feel for the road, and with out a/c, p/s and air pump i only have one belt on my engine just for the alternator.. looks cleaner too

With much consideration and your guy's opinions I came to the conclusion to go without power steering and without a/c. Later in my life I may reinstall the power steering. With that being said is anyone selling a manual steering rack?
