87 RX7 Turbo II: After market turbo(I need some advice)

I own a 1987 RX7 Turbo II, last year my turbo seals stared to go and now I have been looking for more efficient turbos. I'm looking for something a little bigger than the stock turbo and much more efficient, but nothing too big. I have seen the greddy turbo upgrade kit and it just looks to be a bit much. So has anyone swapped turbos to a newer slightly bigger turbo, if so what would you say is the most effective. Also should I buy an after market turbo manifold, (I bought a OEM manifold 4 years ago because it leaked). Well if anyone knows of a good turbo and manifold and where I could get a good buy on it please let me know, I have been out of the loop for sometime now. If you have any other tips, like on external waste gates or turbo related parts that i might also need to buy please educate me from what you know.
~thanks Jon

get a BNR hybrid. going with an aftermarket t4 turbo is going to cost a lot of money (turbo, manifold, wastegate, intercooler, EMS, custom exhaust, fuel, etc.)

I'm running a stage 2. I like it a lot.

What Exactly is a BNR hybrid and where can I get one.. Also I have a front mount intercooler, and I has planning on buying a Rtek. So those thing are not a problem also I have a Racing beat 3in turbo back exhaust. Do you still think the BNR is the best bet?

unless you want more than 400 whp, I think a BNR is probably the best choice.

it being a hybrid means it uses the stock exhaust side, so it bolts up to your stock manifold and your aftermarket downpipe.

the compressor side is changed and the internals are modified a bit.

WOW! this sounds exactly what I was looking for, Stage 3 seems like a great price, plus I could buy the Rtek. What are your thoughts on the Rtek? I see that you have a megasquirt. would you say the mega is better?

Grab the rtek 1.8 and some 720s for the primaries and the secondaries.

OK! So with a rtek, 720s, stage 3 BNR, front mount intercooler and a proper tune. What kind of HP number am I looking at?

Subscribed.... I'm in the market as well. Being new to turbos, i'm a little unclear on the benefits of hybrid turbos as well.

It depends on what you're looking for. The megasquirt is a full standalone in every sense. you need to either make a new wiring harness or make/buy and adapter for the stock one. But it's a lot more configurable than and rtek would be. You can even request new features that aren't in it and they can be written (if the programmer thinks their worth it). it also supports stuff like boost control and launch control.

if you want to just plug something in and go I'd probably go with the rtek 1.8 and replace your injectors with 4x720s to give you lots of fuel to use with the new turbo.

if you want something in the middle aka you can change fuel maps and stuff, but it's a lot harder to mess something up, and it has a lot fewer features than the MS then you can go with the rtek 2.1
