Question Quick question on S-AFC

I figured id start a new thread on this because its really important.
Im going to be taking my car in for emissions test try # 1000 and i want to try leaning out my car because i suspect that i am running to rich. What i need to know is if can make adjustments to the hi and lo settings that are in there, or if i have to leave them the same and use a dyno to tune it. My goal is to simply limit the fuel for the emissions test than put everything back to where it was. However i dont want to touch any settings if it means blowing up my engine.

Thanks.

what are the settings at now? all 0?

you can lean out the lows a bit it shoudln't hurt anything... start changing the 1000rpm one around and you should hear the idle change. do it till it runs the best. you could probably lean the rest of the low range out by the same amount as you just did the idle.

just don't try to overkill lean it out... it's not a magic answer. it will only lower one reading. but another one will go up! and at some point when you go too far they could both start going up.

On the newer SAFC I do believe there is *thing* called NE POINTS. Go there and I think you can lower the 1500 down to 1000 on the older models and down to 800 on the newer.

It won't hurt to lower the 800rpm thru 3000rpm down a good 10percent if you have to. A minus 5 to ten percent for the lowest rpm setting, is a normal thing to do in these here parts of the country.

Yeah that setting is in there, but there also is a throttle setting and i think it says like +40% or somthing. Should i try to adjust the throttle setting as well?

Sorry 'bout that. It's a turo car. Maybe just lowering down five percent til you get it dyno'd.

Throttle points. Are you using the tps or the boost/pressure sensor??? for the throttle?. If using the boost/pressure sensor, if you look at your MONITOR and at the thrtl percent and at the same time look at your boost gauge, I think you'll see when you START to boost the thrtl percent will be around fify to fifty five percent. So why not set your hi throttle to arond those figures.

So go to SETTINGS.....HI=POINT and enter say 55 percent.

And go to NE-POINT and lower the lowest figure. If it's not 1000 and is 1500...then go to the next highest figure and lower it first ...then go back to the 1500 figure and you'll see that you can now lower it to what ever the lowest is allowed by your SAFC. The latest SAFC will let you go to 800rpm....the one prior to that one will let you go only down to 1000 rpm.

You know by now I am a rank amateur, don't you? And that I won't pay for any blown up engines?/mistakes?

Almost passed

I put 2 bottles of isopropyl into about 1/8 tank of gas. I set the lo settings on my car as much as 12% but i couldent lower the 1000 rpm one cuz my car was stalling as soon as i went down even 1% (I think this is cuz of the alchohol in the tank). Then I set the Hi settings at -10% all the way untill 4k.
My readings were
HC 2.63 limit is 2.00
CO 34.79 limit is 30.00
and my previous was:
HC 3.81
CO 76.49
So clearly what i did had some postive effect. Ok so what i need to know now is how much lower should i go in the hi and lo settings?
