FC3S.org CF TII Hood corrosion???
The Aluminum/Steel hood swap thread reminded me of this.
I plan to get a CF TII hood from these guys soon since my TII conversion is lacking a nice hood(hacked hole in my NA).
Now Will I have any hinge problems?
I had a Steel hood so I have steel hinges right?
Something like the properties of the two metals interact with each other and corrode right?
So anyone w/ the CF hood. Is is steel/aluminum/CF mounting spots?
If I need something there can I use a slim piece of plastic or something?
Thx.

Carbon Fiber is a plastic/resin product, like Fibre Glass.. So a plastic shim would be redundant. There shouldn't be any problems, other than the possible rusting if you have steel hood mounts and water gets in between them and the hood. Besides, Carbon fiber is used a lot in race applications and such where it's bolted directly to many different kinds of metals, I can't see there being a problem..
I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

To futher my question since I didn't explain it enough.
DO they use a metal/CF/aluminum frame for the mounting points????
The hood may be CF but they may have incorporated metal mounting points.
I know CF wouldn't have any corrosion problems unless I spilled acid on it.

Actually, the there is a metal piece that is sandwiched inbetween the inside layer of the hood and the inside of the hood itself. So the bolts bolt into metal but the heads of the bolts contact with carbon fiber only.

make sure you get hood pins or a aluminum hood latch or hood will not close right.
i know when i changed my hood from steel to aluminum you had to slam hood close and when i did this is put a small dent in the hood because i had to really shove it down to get it to close.
