I actually had the same? I have a 91 GXL and found a 87 GXL w/ 40k. Do I just need the housing or do I need the entire rear end? I know how to take it apart, but done know what I need to do the swap. Can someone help me?

You're overthinking this. Drop the rear out of the s4, drop the rear out of the s5, adn install teh s4 rear into the s5. You don't need to change axles or the subframe, just the differential unit itself. Don't take anything apart, there is no need to.

I don't know how I could make it any clearer than what I did above. One thing to consider, no offense intended, but perhaps if you cannot understand the simple statement I have made above, you should not attempt to work on your own car.

As for the torsen unit mtrix sells, I believe it should bolt into any nonturbo carrier housing, but that would be a question for them, I would think.
