New FC Owner; Questions/Suggestions

Yay, got my FC back in February. Gonna get the keys in my possession come August, and there's some stuff I wanna look into to make it a decent combination of speed and style (or "rice", whatever =P). Its an '88 S4, naturally aspirated and I dont' have any plans for a TII port (expensive, plus I dunno enough about turbos just yet.) Some things I wanna look at:

-Firstly, I got loud exhausts O.O Duals, dunno what make. I'd like something quieter, any suggestions?

-Secondly, I'd like to put a couple subs (2 10" is what I was thinking) in. Would that be possible/attainable on an FC? I know it'll make me heavier and a bit slower but you know, I like music ^_^ Also, what are the size for the stock rear speakers? They need replacing, they're old.

-Thirdly, I'm sure they make em, but should I put an intake system into my car? I heard it was a fairly effective way to boost your HP a bit, while not requiring a lotta cash or time. Maybe I'm misinformed though.

And lastly, do they make APC harnesses? The APC seats came with the car, but its still stock seatbelts O.o

Thanks a ton =D Hopefully I can get smart and have both a nice car and some knowledge to contribute to the rotary community with ^^" I'll update this thread as I go along too, prolly.

-Rocky

Is it a 2 by 2? If no and you have the cargo bays, turn them into boxes. I think you can squeez a 10" sub on each of them.

You looking for a 4 point harness? Ebay has them all over the place.

For the speaker questions...

The opening is 8 inches. Depending on your car, you probably have it on a bracket with 4 or 6 1/2" inchers in there. You can get a bracket from www.crutchfield.com or make one yourself to fit some good 6 1/2" inchers back there. Just don't spend a whole lot on them, it would be a waste to spend hundreds on a high quality speaker back there when most of it won't reach your ears...

As for subs, do some searching on the forums, many people have done some creative things for putting subs in various places in the hatch or behind the seats. Personally I just have a single 10" box back there, works great. Also with the 7's removable carpeting, running wires is a snap.

As for the intake... there are two things you can do cheaply to improve it. One is to buy a K&N stock replacement filter, just drop it where the stock filter goes and that's it. Many people have also drilled holes in the box to let air get in. Number two is to use the cone filter. The car will take a 3" cone filter, and I again suggest K&N. Since yours in an S4, you will also need a bracket that you can easily get off of ebay cheap. Most people suggest the HKS kind. My car is a S5, so I don't use a bracket.

Do a search for "cold air box". Without a cold air box, the cone filter can't really do that much since it's just sucking in hot engine air. Honestly, I haven't gotten around to making a box for mine yet, I need to get around to doing that sometime.

It doesn't boost your HP by a whole lot (maybe a couple of HP max) but on mine, it increased throttle response, and seemes to have shifted my power band up slightly. Not a huge difference, but for $40 I'm damn happy. I've also been told that once you free up the exhaust, there is a bit more difference.

If you're made of money, many places also sell some $100+ intake sets, although the general consensus is that they aren't much better than the K&N setups.
