Were the power steering systems different between S4 and S5 cars?

I ask because the power steering pump that came with my S5 TII block had the fittings cut off, and the lines are...not in great shape. The PS pump from my S4 NA is in good shape.

Can I swap the pump from my S4 dead block to my S5 TII block?

I do beleive you can do just that. They should both be speed sensing with 3 lines, if so it should work.

 

There are two types of systems, speed sensing and something else. One is the 2-line system, the other has 3 lines, I think you just need to have a pump with the same number of lines.

 

only some of the s5 nonturbo models had the cheapo power steering

 

I'm not sure if there are exceptions to this, but I've seen speed-sensing power steering in S4's and RPM-sensing power steering on S5's.

 

Except the turbos, they all got the speed sensing.
