Well, considering that the GTUs was only made from 89 to 90, I would say that it's a pretty good chance that 91 RX-7 isn't a GTUs. However, if you paint "GTUs" on the side and install a 4.30 rear end, you will have a 99% GTUs.

GXL rear end (automatic transmission 3.90) = slowest acceleration, best gas mileage
GXL rear end (manual transmission 4.10) = average acceleration, average gas mileage
GTUs rear end (4.30) = fastest acceleration, worst gas mileage.

a GTU was an N/A model, a step above base I believe. GTUs was the really sporty N/A model and is fairly rare. Your TII isnt a GTU, its a TII.

OK, this gets confusing, but here it goes...

The sporty non-turbo 2Gen RX-7 model was origanally called the "Sport", and was made from 86-87. Basically, the Sport came with all of the stock performance items as well as a unique aero package, but didn't have any of the heavy luxury options. In 88 it dropped the special aero package and was called the "GTU". In 89 it became the "GTUs", and the "GTU" name was used for the base model. There were differences between the different years, of course, but that is the basic history of the sporty model of the non-turbo 2Gen RX-7.

There are only two turbo models of the 2Gen RX-7:
1) TurboII
2) 10th Anniversary

The 10AE is a TII with nice paint and some minor special additions, but they are basically the same car and have the same engine. I think the 10AE is a few pounds heavier than an 88 TII, but not by any significant amount.
Lots of 2Gen RX-7 information here:
