quick easy oil gauge prob/question

quick easy oil gauge prob/question

Oil gauge all the way at the top= full groundout or completely open circuit?
Thanks!
(Just put in the rebuild engine, and after 30 sec of driving the gauge fit the top.. first was intermittant, now is constant, gotta fix)

It happen to me too, and I still don't know what happen. I am pretty sure it was the condesor(?) that is bolted on one of the slave cylinder bolts.

That news to me.. hw doeas that have t do with the oil pressure gauge???

I am not really sure how it works, Icemark might be able to help here. Basicalle the cable coming from the dash gauge, splits in two. One of those splits goes into the condeser, and the other split goes into the oil pressure sensor.

I could probably figure out how it works, but I had so many issues with the gauge itself, that I went with a autometer

I didn't think it had anything to do with the oil gauge/sender directly, I thought it was just a referance ground for all the instruments so that the readings wouldn't vary with battery voltage fluctuations or somthing// or to reduce electrical noise...

the oil gauge on my GTU is dead flat at the bottom. Wont move. Open circuit somewhere maybe?

Always check the wire on the sender first. If it falls off, no reading. If it falls off and the connector grounds on something, max reading.

Check that oilly sludge hasn't covered the connector too. If so, clean it off and see if that works.

The condensor is there to dampen electrical pulses from a pulsing oil pressure.  The oil pressure actually pulses in the engine, as the oil pump does not produce a continuous pressure of oil.  The cap keeps the needle from bouncing around too much.
