quick easy oil gauge prob/question
Oil gauge all the way at the top= full groundout or completely open circuit?
Thanks!
(Just put in the rebuild engine, and after 30 sec of driving the gauge fit the top.. first was intermittant, now is constant, gotta fix)

I could probably figure out how it works, but I had so many issues with the gauge itself, that I went with a autometer

I didn't think it had anything to do with the oil gauge/sender directly, I thought it was just a referance ground for all the instruments so that the readings wouldn't vary with battery voltage fluctuations or somthing// or to reduce electrical noise...

Always check the wire on the sender first. If it falls off, no reading. If it falls off and the connector grounds on something, max reading.

The condensor is there to dampen electrical pulses from a pulsing oil pressure. The oil pressure actually pulses in the engine, as the oil pump does not produce a continuous pressure of oil. The cap keeps the needle from bouncing around too much.
