Quick Clutch Questions

This is the cheapest deal on a clutch ive seen so far. Does it include everything i will want to replace while the tranny is disconnected? It looks like there is a clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, and pilot bearing seal. I need to know ASAP as im going to order this tonight.

**** man im looking at having this one done. I'm only a weekend mechanic. Ive done my own exhaust, brake, engine sensor, and tune- up. But i dont have a bearing puller and dont know how to use one. There is a guy that works on all the racecars at the small track near here that has a nice shop that he just opened up to the public and he will do it for cheap because he is building his business. I would like to do this myseld but have never attempted anything this huge on mine own and i only have a 94pc Craftsman socket set and some vice grips. what do u think?

Well i believe you J-Rat, but ive seen many threads with people using 2 or 3 bearing pullers without getting it out and end up having to cut them out. These people sound more experienced than me and are having trouble, ive never used a bearing puller and have no means to get it cut out. This is my daily driver , getting to work everyday type car and down time is more of a priority than the pride of doing it myself.

I took my tranny out to put this exact kit in. Its sitting on my bench now, waiting for me this weekend. The kit is knice, and you can do it yourself. Not hard. But if you got the cash, let a pro do it, and save your self the busted knuckles.

As much as I insist that doing things yourself is the only why to learn, I applaud you for recognizing the limits of your abilities and (more-so) your tools and time. Far too often I recieve calls with people asking me to save their *** after tackling a project and getting in over their head.
Just make sure to use a reputable mechanic so this doesn't come back to bite you.

Some would suggest moving closer to one's employment location, so the 7 can receive proper mutilation. Mutilation by qualified mechanic is fine too.

Well, I put mine back in this weekend, took about four hours. I also removed the shifter housing and replaced the broken spring clip that recenters the shifter from the first and second gear side, and put in new bushings to tighten it up.

The new bushings did the trick, and it is really tight now, feels good, no play, it also recenters itself( yeeeaaahhhhh ) now. The clutch, it is way tight. It's supposed to be a Mazda factory clutch, but it grabs like theres no tomorrow. I knoticed when I installed it that the fingers where very flexed. It is O.K on the release, a bit quik to grab, but very easy on the pedal. You will probably find yourself chirping the tires at first, but thats a bad thing...right?
