Red face Questions About SE Model??

I am an auto major at SIU and recently purchased a 1988 Mazda RX 7 SE and somethings just don't seem to line up. First off according to the thread that is a posting of the standard equipment on all 2nd Gen RX 7s I should have a back seat and no LSD. However, after extensive (ahem) testing. I am positive i have a LSD. I am positive this vehicle is an SE the car says SE right on the side. I am thoroughly confused about the trim level of my car now and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

Also just for the record my RX is one of the most reliable rallied cars on the road. 1 mile through knee high mud.

One more thing anyone know where a good place to get a new/used/working/any driver side door handle?

I don't know were you got your info, but a back seat is an option on the SE.

O means Optional:

And what makes you think you have a LSD??? Do you have the LSD warning tag on the differntial plug?? Or is it because you can break both rear tires loose or something like that??? Just for your own info, breaking both tires loose or leaving two burn marks has nothing what so ever to do with having a LSD.

Hey genius boy clutch packs on the outside of my side gears made me think i have an LSD. Don't try and get smart with me, I spend all my time around cars I'm talking 12 hrs a day. And if you look more carefully you'll see that the SE is the column on the left which shows an "St" for the rear storage bins which if you actually read what that little "t" stood for you'd realize that that particular model had back seats.

There's also the possibility that someone swapped in a LSD at some point in the car's life.

Hey D**&^%it, can't you even read???

The 9th line down on interior features is: Fold down rear seat

does the SE have an S there for Standard???

I think not.

The "t" that you mention indicates that the rear bins are not available on models with rear seats.
This is shown at the bottom of the page.

I guess that you spend so much time around cars that you forgot how to read a sales sheet on the car

I have used door handles, but since you choose to exhibit an attitude, I will choose not to deal with you. please post your EBAY ID so I can place that on my blocked bidder list also

I would doubt anyone swapped in a LSD without changing the wheels to 5 lugs

The guy I bought it from was an ignorant redneck. Anything could have happened with my car. The backwards hillbilly could have done some crazy things to this car. Probably backed over a dear damage the original rear end and threw some random one under. Sorry if i sounded aggressive but nevertheless I knew it was an LSD and I was getting some flak from whats his name. i got on edge my mistake

If I was starting over building a autocross car, I would use a 4 lug car, add the 4.3 LSD rear and be a stealth terror.

I also have a 1988 SE. It has no back seat and no LSD.
I see in your profile that you've just joined this site today (4/26/05). Since you're new here, there are a few things which you'll find helpful to know.

1 - There are a handful of names which you'll see on a daily basis answering questions. These guys KNOW what they're talking about. They're not guessing, they're here to help. Icemark is one of them.

2 - Smart-assed replies/comments are unwelcome, and your requests for help/information/parts in the future will be ignored once people recognize you have a habit of being impolite. Banzaitoyota's first response to you is an example.

3 - We're all here because we have a similar interest, and we do what we can to help each other. This is the best place to find the help/info/parts you need to keep your car on the road and/or improve its performance.

That being said, welcome to the club.

I found when I was in college, comprehesion and critical thinking were what made grades. Being impatient and reactive, didn't.

If you feel that Icemark's first reply to your post was was an attack, then I see pre-school in your future.

I gotta '88 SE. No back seats. No LSD (WAAAAHHHHH!). However, it's been a lot of fun & very reliable. I drive mine everyday with a load of tools in the back. Good Luck with yours!
